Nick,
I was among the people who received the email late at night before the hearing. I could not attend, but emailed all of the members, as well as Ike Leggett.
I am so disappointed to hear the outcome. Glad for the postponement through this growing season, but devastated at their action. I have tended my little half acre here for 31 years, and I know what is involved in that, the responsibility it requires, the attention to the small and honest details of life. I am disgusted by our "enlightened" county yet again, the shortsighted, greedy actions. They will shop at Whole Foods and sport bumper stickers with the right messages, but they will turn their yards into leafless lawns, and vote out one of the few organic farms in our midsts, so that more little children can experience the out of doors on soccer fields.
I am dismayed and disgusted, but mostly I am sad for what you - and we - are losing. Thanks for what you do. Keep me on your list of supporters. I will fight for you in your future endeavors. I know what is involved in growing organically. It is not easy. You have done this commercially for 30 years, before people started focusing on it like they do now. That takes a lot of courage, guts, determination and hard work.
And now it will be soccer fields. I am so so so so sorry.
May the next phase somehow hold even better things for you.
